Gate of Pain (Hard Mode)Last night Sheep, Rod and I all joined up for the Gate of Pain mission in Hard Mode. While I was somewhat concerned about what party configuration would be needed for what is already a tough mission in Normal Mode, our effort could not have gone more somoothly. Because of how low stress this run was (not once were we ever in danger of wiping), we thought it would be helpful to share the builds we used.
I will leave the tactics and order of pulling for Sheep to fill in, as he knows this mission far better than I do, and he was the one doing all the pulling with his warrior. I'm sure Rod may have some excellent insight to share on this as well.
Here are the builds for each of our characters and heros:
Congratulations. Did you guys get bonus as well?
Most of the builds are pretty typical other than the warrier monk, with Ursan Blessing. Ursan Blessing is becoming very popular, especially for some elite mission such as DOA. Better use Ursan Blessing now, as this is a sure sign that they will likely nerf that skill soon.
The ele builds are a little mixed from typical.
Jet and I are working on the Guardian title, so doing the bonus was a given.
The general tactics were basically the same as that on the wiki. In general, it is best to pull the Terrorwebs away from patrols and take on the Torturewebs alone. One Liquid Flame from them and you're toast.
The Prot Monk build has come from a long line of intermediate builds while vanquishing. The elite spot is variable. The Earth Ele is one I threw together to counter the Dragon Stomping Jade Brotherhood in HM Nahpui Quarter Explorable. Turned out to be useful against the Terrorwebs too.
Yes, we certainly go the bonus. And yes, the builds may have a wide mix of spells, but there is no denying how insanely effective it was.
On a different note, the prot monk is VERY similar to the build I use on my prot monk while vanquishing, except that for vanquishing I tend to swap out Deny Hexes for Shield of Judgment. The reason for that is because I have found that the AI in Hard Mode focuses much more on attacking the monk, and Shield of Judgment helps to give the poor hero monk a way to protect themselves.
