Hell's PrecipiceThis mission has always been a tough one for me, I have 3 characters that need this mission and bonus in normal mode. Since I usually h and h
most everything, anyone have any team builds or suggestions as to what I can do to get this one done and make it easier? I don't mean tactics or make sure to "pull"
but maybe builds anyone has used. I usually try and take some eles along but a fire build is useless agasint the titans and I am also unsure of a good ranger
build for them. Anyway ang ideas as to specific builds or heros that make things
easier I would appreciate.
Hell's Precipice
*Titans thx Cyvil

Shatterstone is good against those titans, as well as water magic in general. Winter has been fixed, you might consider pairing that with Greater Conflagration. All physical and elemental damage is converted to cold damage, and titans do not like cold damage. With that, you can also equip /Me and
Mantra of Frost. That mantra reduces cold damage, and gives energy. Remember that the spirits affect the party, as well as the baddies.

Oh, and do not forget some interrupts!
I assume that you know to break down biggest to smallest before moving to the next titan?
As I reread your message, I see "Hell's Precipice" and "Destroyers." I assumed that you were speaking of the last Prophecies mission, and the titans.

I love this mission
I usually take 2 Necros and 1 healer for heroes.
The two monk henchies and 2 warrior henchies.
One is set up as an interrupter with SS
N/Mes
Dom = 5
Insp = 8
Soul Reaping = 9 + rune of your choice
Curses = 12 + rune of your choice
Cry of Frustration
Power Spike
Leach Sig
Power Drain
Weaken Armor
Mark of Pain
Spiteful Spirit {E}
Rez Sig
The other is what I call a Dirt Diver.
N/E
Earth =11
Soul Reaping = 10 + a rune of your choice
Blood = 10 + a rune of your choice at least a minor to bring health regin up to +5
Earth Attunement
Well of power {E}
Sig of lost souls
Glyph of lesser energy
Ward against elements
Ward against foes
Ward against Melee
Rez Sig
I usually breeze through it. Not enough bodies to run MM but just enough to create wells, might look at adding Well of blood in place of Ward against Foes but I would rather have Well of Power use a DB instead.
The wards help keep your back line protected, the well and healers keep the warriors swinging. When everything is dead flag everyone into the well and recharge.
I use this team build with my Warrior, but it should work with other professions.

My ranger has Conjure Frost (needs cold bow string) and Barrage. I also keep an eye on the hands and fists to interrupt their healing signet. Otherwise, it's all about the pulling...

What really helped me to master this mission was going along with someone that knew exactly where to go and when (referring the the path to take, figuring out the route and timing of the patrols, and where the best locations are to take on the opponents). Now that I know the mission pretty darned well, I really don't find it to be very tough any longer. Good builds are certainly crucial as well, or you can find yourself really falling short on either offense or defense.
I would be happy to help you along with this mission if we are able to actually arrange to be in-game at the same time. :-) And, if we do meet up, I can share my ranger build that I use for this mission which has proven very effective at destroying all monsters that oppose me. :twisted:

When I went through w/ the mesmer the other day, I decided to try a rather unorthodox team:
Jora and Koss w/ a heavy adrenaline based sword build w/ Conjure Frost and icy swords (there's a /bonus one that works well, forget which kit gave it to me), Tahl for some heal/prot support, and then 2xMonk hench and 2xWar Hench. I don't have the exact builds handy at the moment. There were some hiccups, and a few of the henchies died at some point, but overall I got through w/o much issue.

Scutty and I went thru this mission last week and we fashioned the team after a guild outing there last year where someone took a Blood build with wells and bip.
We used an Earth hero warder, 2 SF eles, a interrupt ranger with winter, the blood necro, a hero monk, Scutty as a monk and I was an ursan ele.
No MM and we had no trouble, a few times we had a bigger mob than we would have liked but even that didn't cause any deaths. Lotta fun.

thanks for the replies and advice. i'm going to try this one sometime this week and hopefully get it down so I can get all my characters thru it.
i don't know how well i will do with H and H but i'm scared to try it anymore with pugs. i think your right Jet that knowing where to go and when to
attack is an important key to doing it well. if we are ever on at the same time that would be great to get your help, thanks
TrentGreen- 06-10-2008
Did you get this done for all your characters? I could go through it again with my ele or ranger.
Miles McDonald- 06-10-2008
I sure haven't Trent. I still need it on a few of my characters. So yeah next time we see eachother online maybe we can make plans, thx.

I finally had some time and did this lastnight with one of the 4 characters I need it on. I went with a pug team of, get this: 3 warriors, 1 monk and 3 monk heros and me a spirit Rit. We beat it with only 1 hero dying and 1 warrior dying. I suspected that we would lose but I figured I would try it just to get an idea which way to go to get prepared to do it with heros. It was really very easy. I kept dropping splinter weapon on the warriors and had 3 spirits up with painful bond going and we had no problems. :D

The last 2 times I've done it, I did with only H/H, and other than the first time in which I died twice I think, not even a H/H died the 2nd time.
Still need to run my Monk through...

4 monks!? :shock: That is somewhat unusual. Clearly it worked for you, I'm just shocked since I typically use 2 healers in NM and 3 in HM for most missions/quests.
Of course, the type of healing in Hell's Precipice is key. IMHO running with monks who are straight healers makes the process MUCH more difficult. Protection spells are really helpful (Extinguish is very nice to have along) and it is also very helpful to have a healing Rit with Restoration (for party-wide regen). And of course, one should never forget to bring Winter for this fun little adventure. Just be sure you don't have a Rit hero using Gaze of Fury, or it could accidentally destroy this beneficial spirit (had that happen in a mission once before and it became a real pain). 8)
