Unid Gold Farmers...
Ok this was crazy... I go to Kamadan and say WTB unids blah blah. This guy come up and sells me some typical unid golds 7 for 5k...After like 35 unids he pops in 7 unid'ed salvage items then says he wants 7 for 7k. Considering that these all contain Superior Runes and possible Superior Vigor its not such a bad deal. I get him to agree on 7 for 6.5k then this is where it gets crazy... This guy had literally HUNDREDS of gold Luxon Garbs. I had to fill every nook and cranny, identify things as fast as possible, merch then buy more from him. Then his friend shows up with the SAME Luxon Garbs and wants to sell me a couple hundred more...I had to change toons and I ended up filling every toon completely. I finally couldnt take it anymore and told them I would need a couple hours to sort all this stuff out. I ended up uncovering 6 superior vigor runes and dozens of survivor, radiant, and other somewhat valuable runes. I think I was actually profiting overrall. When I was finally ready for more they said they found someone who paid higher and sold them all out. And one other side note about how odd this whole thing was... both guys used somewhat broken english and when it was all over, some guy that I had no prior interaction with PM'ed me and said "If you need to buy more pm me directly and I will have them sell to you." As if he was their "boss". So now here is why this is in the War Room... I want to discover what it is that these guys are doing and farm these for myself. Here is what I know: Both guys were level 20 N/Mo (maybe 55 necro?) All the garbs were called: - Luxon Garb Salvage item Armor: 40 Obviously this is farmed in a Luxon area of Cantha. The id'ed golds had things for all the classes: monk, sin, rit, ele, warrior, ranger, necro, mesmer. So its somewhere that has a good mixture of classes. (I am 98% sure you wont see an ele drop a garb with superior marksmanship) So thats it... I want to figure out exactly where, and how to farm these things. When I asked the guys how long it took them to farm this, one guy said 1 day and the other answered 7-8 hours. If anyone has ideas I would love to hear it.

Right now my head is spinning from identifying so many golds and changing toons so often to make room. I have already purchased from this group 2 more times today. They work like a beehive, when 1 stops to sell me unids, they all rotate in and sell to me at the same time. Each and every one of these toons is a N/Mo. Better yet...they gave me their base of operations  They work out of Zos Shivros Channel and when I watched them run out of the portal they ran into Boreas Seabed. They were running out solo and not in a group. I havent had time to look up what the Holycon Job is but if it starts here then we have our answer.

The Halcyon Job is part of a Luxon Quest chain. Not sure how and why it nets so much gold items, but there you have it.

Although this farm location has been around for a while, I'd be interested in knowing the various builds that are being used as well. It looks like there are many variations of HM farm builds for this spot, including: 330 Rit VwK, 55 N/Mo (some using SS, and others using SV and Insidious), 55 Mo/N (some using SS, and others using SV and Insidious), War/Rit VwK, and even Ranger builds (the ranger skill bar was too fuzzy to see what skills were being used, and the build was not posted separately from the video). Like jhaedin, I would be interested to know which ones work best here. Also, going a little OT from this location, but still on the subject of farming, is anyone in the alliance still doing raptor farms? If so, what build(s) are you using? I would like to still do this farm after the SF nerf, but it appears that the runs are either (a) much slower (especially with the sliver builds) or (b) need a Sin primary for a permanent SF build. Since I don't have a sin with any skills to speak of, I am hoping to find a good post SF nerf build for a reasonable raptor farm time (maybe around 1-2 mins).

jhaedin- 09-14-2008

My sliver + battle standard of honor + radiation field + vipers defense build kills all the raptors in under 2 minutes. I like it because they all die and I can pick up my drops without any worries. It helps to have high ebon rank and a decent asuran rank. I have mentioned it a few times. If anyone wants more info I can provide that when its not almost 3:00 am :)

Try THIS Jet. I haven't run it myself as Sinar has yet to venture into EotN, but the video makes it look easy. :)

cyvil- 09-14-2008

JET, this is what I use for Raptors, slower than Jhaedin's but relatively easy to use - http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/Me_Mist_Form_Farmer

cyvil- 09-14-2008

Jhaedin, here are a couple that might help. They are general farming guides, but each mentions the Halcyon job Specifically: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10259746&highlight=Halcyon http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10175262 It is interesting to note, in the rit assassin farming video, that they skip the waves that come after aggroing the boss. This is why it was taking me so long 600/smite, I was trying for the other groups and failing.

cyvil- 09-14-2008

What about the interrupts from the Raptors - do they pose a problem with this build? Um yes, that build has a problem with interrupts. If I had posted the correct link though, you would see how the interrupts are handled:http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/Me_Mist_Form_Solo_Raptor_Farmer. Sorry about that.

AS for the Halcyon job, my monk is the only one that has not completed that quest. It is not necessary to pick up the Quest NPCs at the first quest markers, as long as you know where to go to spawn the Assassins. 600/Smite works, but so does 55 Mo/N with SS and 12 points in curses. I have Insidious Parasite in there as well, but it is not needed. It comes in handy for the boss, but the rest of the Assassins come down in 1-2 casts of SS. Energy is not a problem by any means, and the Divine Favor boost is necessary. I have to spam Prot Spirit when engaging 4 or more Assassins in HM. The quest pops spawns of Assassins, and the boss is an assassin. After you aggro the boss, more mobs spawn, mobs containing Necros. As the Necros will own you, I suggest pulling the boss to a far corner on the stage to finish him off. I have 8-minute runs, with no running skills. Three full runs produced two golds, including one Luxon Armor thingy. Lots of Luxon pendants drop too, they salvage into iron, or can be traded for XP scrolls. My bags were full after after a couple of incomplete runs, and again after two full runs.

Thanks Cyvil. I also got Jhaedin's build yesterday, so I will need to give both of them a try. As for these Mist Form farming builds, it seems to me that if one were to echo Mist Form, there should be an ability to keep it maintained indefinitely. I have yet to test this theory in practice, but it at least seems feasible. Assuming that is the case, wouldn't the ele skills from the old raptor farming build (the one Jhaedin used prior to the SF nerf) work just as well (since Mist Form doesn't have the same damage reduction nerf as SF)? Not gone through all of this with a fine tooth comb yet, so if I'm missing something, feel free to let me know.

Xavier- 09-16-2008

I tried to use mist form before and while attacks can not do damage, you still get hit with conditions and such Quote from Wiki Although using Mist Form prevents one from taking damage from attacks, the attacks will still hit, and any possible effects delivered by those attacks will still come through. This includes conditions, interrupts, and the life stealing from Vampiric weapons and Nightmare Weapon.

cyvil- 09-16-2008

If mist form is up though, you do not take any damage from the physical attacks. I do not believe that I have ever died from bleeding while farming raptors with Mist Form. Air of Superiority does provide some healing, although none that you can count on. I have died from stupidity, but we can save that for another thread. The sliver builds, because they are somewhat slow, require that you kill the broodmother right off the bat (whack her with a sword to hold her aggro) so that you get a guaranteed skill recharge to finish off most of the rest of the little buggers. She is not generally around to cause bleeding more than once per run.
